Cytoplasmic flow in wild-type N. crassa.

The hyphae show slight differential staining of the cytoplasm, clearly indicating direction of cytoplasmic flow. Note that the apices of the hyphae are swollen indicating non-polar growth after hyphal contact and the formation of a septum after flow has been established.
