MICROBES RULE THE WORLD!

Countless numbers of microbes inhabit virtually every environment on Earth. From the oceans to the mountains, from Antarctic sea ice to volcanic hot springs, and from your garden soil to your digestive tract. But what do YOU know about these vital and fascinating microscopic creatures?

Learn about the unseen majority of life on Earth by exploring their physiological, biochemical and cellular diversity in the General Microbiology lecture course PMB C112. Throughout the semester, you will be learning about the molecular genetic basis, evolutionary origins and ecological significance of this diversity. We will be discussing how diverse microbes contribute to the cycling of matter by their collaboration in food chains, how they ensure their survival by adapting to various environmental stresses and how they benefit humans in fighting diseases.

This course is highly recommended for pre-med and pre-vet students of any major, as well as anyone interested in understanding the molecular basis of microbial life. Students interested in microbial diversity, microbial physiology or bacterial differentiation should not miss this course.
