Graduate Student
Graduate students in the Niyogi Lab are admitted through the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. All graduate students receive complete financial support throughout graduate school from a combination of departmental funds and research grants. During the first year, students do three "rotations" in different laboratories to explore possibilities for Ph.D. thesis research. The thesis advisor is selected at the end of the first year by mutual agreement between student and professor. The deadline for applications is usually around the first week of the new year.
